
Duquesne Beats Rice, 86-59

With a slim 32-30 half-time lead, Duquesne started the second-half vs. Rice with 23-7 run in the first 8 minutes and the Dukes went on to win 86-59 in a game played at the Merrell Center in Katy, Texas.
Kieron Achara led the Duquesne attack with 19 points off the bench and Shawn James tallied 18 points and 4 blocks. The Dukes shot 45 percent from the field and made 27 of 35 from the free throw line (77 percent).
The Owls were led by Paulius Packevicius who notched his second-straight double-double with career-highs in points (18) and rebounds (11). Patrick Britton was the only other Owl in double-digits with 13. Rice shot just 32 percent and committed 28 turnovers.
After two made Britton free throws and a bucket by Packevicius, the Owls were only down 15 at 71-56, but the Dukes closed out the game on a 15-3 run.
Rice now hosts Richmond on Tuesday, Nov.20 at Reliant Arena at 7 pm.
