The Rice Owls golf sits in 18th place with a 310 score after one round of the Squire Creek Invitational held at Squire Creek Country Club (par 72; 7105) in Choudrant, La. and hosted by Louisiana Tech. Monday's second round was suspended due to heavy rain. An attempt will be made on Tuesday to conclude the second as well as the third and final round.
Sophomore Christopher Brown (36-40) and freshman Michael Whitehead (38-38) lead the young Owl squad at 78. Sophomore Michael Buttacavoli follows at 77 (37-40).
Mississippi leads the field with a six-under 282. The Rebels' David Marino leads the pack by firing a four-under 68.
