
McClintock Named C-USA Co-Defender Of The Week

IRVING -- Rice senior goalkeeper Amy McClintock has been named the Conference USA soccer co-defensive player of the week for Sept. 24 the league office announced from its headquarters in Irving, Tex., on Monday (Sept. 25). McClintock shared the league's weekly defensive honor with SMU sophomore goalkeeper Ashley Gunter.
In the Owls' only game last week, McClintock made three saves to help the Rice soccer team remain undefeated on the season with a narrow 1-0 road win at Texas State (Sept. 22). The standout goalkeeper from St. Louis set a new Rice record with her sixth-straight complete game shutout, the longest streak in school history. In the win she lowered her season goals-against average to 0.23, the third-best mark in the nation. It is the second time this season for McClintock to earn recognition from the league as a defender of the week.
Rice (8-0-1) soccer opens C-USA regular season action with a two-game homestand this weekend. The Blue & Gray hosts Central Florida on Sept. 29 at 7 pm. Rice then takes on South Miss at home on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 1 pm
The undefeated Owls are off to their best start in school history. The only blemish on the team's record remains a scoreless tie on the road at Penn on Sept. 4.
