Rice Owl sophomore golfer Kaz Hoffman won his U.S. Amateur qualifying event at Corde Valle Golf Club (San Martin, Calif.) with a 135 (65-70). With the victory, Hoffman now advances to the 106th U.S. Amateur Championship on Aug. 21-22 at the famed Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska, Minn.

Hoffman was first in a field of 61 and he won by three strokes over the other two qualifiers Jordan Cox (71-67) and Darryl Donovan (69-69).
