Rice University head golf coach Drew Scott has announced the signing of Christopher Brown, from Garland, Texas, to a national letter of intent to attend Rice and play on the Owls' golf team.
"Christopher brings experience at the national level and has posted several top finishes in AJGA events and he has been the Garland Owls number one player for each of his four years," comments Scott. "He is consistent off the tee and has a solid short-game and his transition to collegiate golf should come easily."
Brown comes to Rice following a stellar four-year career at Garland High School, where he was the team's number one player for each of his four years. He is a two-time district 11-5A champion and a three-time district 2-5A regional qualifier. Brown has placed third at the 2005 AJGA Valero Texas Open Junior Shootout, seventh at the 2005 Byron Nelson Junior, and eighth at the 2005 AJGA Stars of Texas Junior. He is the eleventh-ranked player in the state of Texas and nationally is the 88th ranked senior. Brown's other collegiate options included Missouri and Xavier.
