Owls in 10th at Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate

Cary, N.C. - The Rice golf team currently sits in 10th place with Virginia Tech after two rounds of the Courtyard by Marriott Intercollegiate held at MacGregor Downs Country Club (par 72; 6,787 yards). Both the Owls and the Hokies concluded day one with 589 (+13) scores. Rice shot 292-297, while Virginia Tech came in at 289-300.
"We struggled a little bit today," says Rice head coach Drew Scott. "The windy conditions were tough, but some teams were able to handle it and we simply just didn't get enough birdies today."
North Carolina and Kentucky lead the 14-team field with nine-under efforts of 567. The Tar Heels shot 282-285, while the Wildcats shot 275-292. Colorado's Edward McGlasson, playing as an individual leads the tournament with a 10-under score of 134 (64-70).
The Owls were led by Parker LaBarge's 145 (74-71) which ranks him tied for 25th heading into Saturday's final 18 holes.
