
UCF Beats Rice 77-64

Justin Rose scored 22 points and Josh Peppers added 21 points to lead UCF past the Rice Owls 77-64 in front of 1,976 fans in Autry Court. UCF is now 12-13 overall and 6-6 in Conference USA, while Rice drops to 11-14 and 5-7 in league action.
The Owls were ahead 20-19 in the first-half as Paulius Packevicius and Lorenzo Williams each made two free throws, but UCF outscored Rice 13-8 to end the half.
Rice was facing its biggest deficit of the game in the second-half at 42-33 (13:58), when the Owls went on a 7-0 run to cut it to 42-40, but UCF's Mike O'Donnell nailed a three-pointer to squealch the Rice rally.
On the night, UCF made 12 three-pointers, the most Rice has allowed since Tulsa made 12 on Feb. 11, and shot 57 percent from the field. Rice on the other hand, shot 39.2 percent (20-51) from the floor.
Also in double-figures for Rice were Jamaal Moore and Lorenzo Williams each with 13 points, and Morris Almond added 11.
The Owls now prepare for Wednesday's CSTV game at Houston.
