
Rice Blows Past Texas-Permian Basin 80-46

HOUSTON (AP) - All-America Morris Almond scored a game-high 29 points to help the Rice Owls beat Texas-Permian Basin 80-46 on Saturday night.
Chris Hagan added 12 points and a career-high eight assists for Rice (3-4).
In only 26 minutes of action, Almond hit 11 of 17 shots from the field, scored 18 in the first half and made all four of his 3-point attempts.
He is now averaging a Conference USA leading 29.3 points a game in addition to 5.3 rebounds a game and sports a 53 percent shooting percentage from the field.
Rice's Patrick Britton pulled down a season-high 10 boards to go with his 9 points, 2 steals, and 2 blocks. Rodney Foster and Lawrence Ghoram each contributed 8 points off the bench.
The Owls shot 55 percent from the field and held UTMB to just 33 percent shooting.
Mansour Mbye led Texas-Permian Basin (2-4) with 16 points and Rashad Pride had 10.
Rice now hosts Lamar, on Wednesday, December 6, at 7:05 pm in Autry Court.
