Houston -
Two days after an historic upset of 10th-ranked Texas A&M, Rice gets down to business again Sunday as Marquette comes to town for a 2 pm tip-off at Autry Court. The Owls (5-2) will be seeking a measure of revenge against the Golden Eagles (6-1) after an 82-57 loss in Milwaukee last season. Marquette is riding a five-game win streak this year and this is only the second-ever meeting of the two teams.
Rice features all-America candidate Lauren Neaves at forward, and the 6-2 senior from Cooper City, Fla., is coming off a 20-point, 20-rebound performance against A&M. Junior center Valeriya Berezhynska had a career-high 21 points against the Aggies, and Samantha Stovall contributed 13 points and a standout defensive effort.
Marquette is led by sophomore guard Krystal Ellis, who averages 15.4 points and 3.7 assists, and the Golden Eagles have a strong front-line with 6-2 Christina Quaye (14.9 ppg), 6-2 Danielle Kamm (11.0 ppg, 6.9 rpg) and 6-1 Jasmine McCullough, the leading scorer against Rice last year.
