The Rice Owls golf team finished sixth at the Pacific Invitational played at Brookside Country Club (Par 72; 6,777 yards) in Stockton, Calif. The Owls shot a 296 in the final round and finished at 868 (287-285-296; +4).
BYU won the team title with an 830 score (275-279-276; -34) 11 strokes ahead of second-place Charlotte (280-279-282=841). BYU had three golfers in the top five in champion Clay Odgen (71-66-67=204), second place Daniel Summerhays (66-69-70=205), and fourth place Robbie Fillmore (69-72-67=208).
The Owls were led by sophomore Erik Petersen who posted a three-round career-low score of 211 (69-66-76; -4). Petersen placed tied for ninth overall, his best place in his career.
The Owls are next in action Nov. 22 and 23 when they compete at the Aloha Purdue Collegiate in Poipu, Hawaii.
