Owls Fifth at Pacific Invitational

The Rice Owls golf team moved up three positions and is now fifth after two rounds of the Pacific Invitational played at Brookside Country Club (Par 72; 6,777 yards). The Owls shot a 285 in round two after Monday's 278 and now sport a two-round total of 572 (-4). The 285 score is the team's lowest round of the fall season.
Leading the Rice charge up the team scoreboard was sophomore Erik Petersen. Petersen, after firing a career-low 69 on Monday, came back on Tuesday to shoot another career-low with a 66 with two eagles, three birdies, and only one bogey. He is now tied for first with a 135. Also at 135 is UC-Irvine's John Chin (67-68) and BYU's Daniel Summerhays (66-69).
BYU leads the 12-team field at 554 (275-279), just five strokes ahead of Charlotte (280-279=559).
