Houston -
An old Southwest Conference and WAC rivalry will be renewed Saturday in Fort Worth as Rice visits TCU in women's basketball action at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum at 2 pm. The last meeting of the two teams was in 2001, and Rice holds a 28-19 edge in the series.
The Owls are 3-1 coming off a disappointing 54-46 loss Monday at UALR. Lauren Neaves had her 39th career double-double with 14 points and 12 boards, and Kadie Riverin had a team-high 17 points, but the team couldn't overcome a listless start and poor shooting.
TCU (1-3) has faced one of the most difficult schedules in the nation so far, with losses to #1 Maryland and #25 George Washington, but the Lady Frogs won their home opener Wednesday, 57-46 over Houston. Adrianne Ross is TCU's leading scorer with 16.3 points a game, and Lorie Butler-Rayford grabs 10 rebounds on average.
Rice hosts Sam Houston State Monday night at Autry Court at 7 pm to open a five-game homestand.
