Rice to Face UALR Monday in Little Rock

Off to its best start since the 2001-02 season at 3-0, the Rice women's basketball team faces Arkansas-Little Rock Monday at 7 pm at the Jack Stephens Center on the UALR campus. The Owls are coming off a thrilling 92-91 double-overtime victory over Ole Miss Friday at Autry Court, and are riding a three-game win streak.
Lauren Neaves leads the Rice attack, averaging 21.7 points and 10.7 rebounds, and she notched her 38th career double-double with 28 points and 16 boards against Ole Miss. The Owls are 32-6 all-time in games with a Neaves double-double.
Other Rice players with hot scoring hands are Maudess Fulton, who has averaged 13.7 points, and Kadie Riverin, who scores 13 points a game while dishing out 5.3 assists. As a team, Rice is shooting 48.6 percent from the field while averaging 86.7 points a game.
UALR is 2-1 after a 59-58 loss Saturday at UT-Arlington. The Trojans are led by sophomore forward Renee Renz with 15 points a game, and center Nikya Hughes, who averages 11.7 points and 9.7 rebounds.
This is the first meeting for the two schools. Rice travels to Fort Worth Saturday to take on nationally-ranked TCU at 2 pm.
