Owls in 10th Place at Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic

The Rice Owls golf currently sits in 10th place after the completion of two rounds of the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic, which is hosted by Notre Dame and held at the Warren Golf Course (par 72; 7,011 yards). Rice was in great after round one in which saw the Owls in second place at 289 on the strength of Kyle Kelley's four-under 66. But, scores ballooned in round as Rice shot a 327 and is now 10th in the 12-team field at 616.
Kelley dropped 20 positions to 21st after shooting a +14 84 in round two. As a matter of fact, each Owl golfer was in the 80s for the second round.
Lamar University, under perfect weather conditions, leads the field at 567 (283-284), 19 strokes better than second place Notre Dame (292-294) and 24 strokes better than Florida State (295=296=591), which is in third place. Lamar's Oliver Bekker (69-69) and Justin Harding (67-71) are tied for first at 138 (-2).
Final round action concludes on Tuesday.
