Men's Golf: Owls Place Seventh at Border Olympics

Laredo -- The Rice Owls golf team competing at the Border Olympics placed seventh at 887 (293-298-296) held at the Laredo Country Club (72; 7,241 yards).

The Owls' Frank Buttacavolli placed third in the event with a 215 score (72-74-69). His final round score of 69 is his career-low and his first top-five finish as well. Freshman Addison Awe, playing in his first spring event since the Rice Intercollegiate, shot a 222 (71-79-72) to tie for 26th.

Baylor won the event by firing a final-round low of 282 to finish at 852 (286-284-282). Baylor's Jeremy Alcorn (73-69-67=209) and Chase Thomas (69-70-71=210) placed first and second respectively.
