Los Angeles, Calif. -
Two days after a tough 83-53 loss at tenth-ranked Stanford, the Rice women's basketball team faces Loyola Marymount Monday at Gersten Pavilion in Los Angeles.
The Owls are 3-4 after the Stanford loss and will look to improve on the worst shooting performance of the year against the Cardinal. Rice shot only 23.6 percent from the field, hitting 17 of 72 shots. The bright spot of the game came at the free throw line, where the Owls knocked down a season-high 94.1 percent on 16-17 shooting.
Loyola Marymount is 3-6 this season, with losses to three top-25 teams -- Georgia, Utah and Southern California. The Lions are led by long-distance sharpshooter Amanda Patton, who is dropping in treys at a 57.8 percent clip, including seven of eight in an 81-72 win Saturday at Long Beach State.
