Rice returns to women's basketball action Saturday after a nearly-two-week hiatus, as the Owls visit 10th-ranked Stanford for a 4 pm contest.
The Owls are 3-3 going into the game, coming off a tough 79-75 loss to Louisiana Tech on Dec. 4 in the championship of the Gene Hackerman Rice Invitational. Stanford has a 4-2 record and is ranked 10th in the Associated Press poll and 11th in the USA Today ESPN coaches poll. The Cardinal hold a 2-0 series advantage over Rice, with the latest win coming on Dec. 18, 2003 by a score of 72-62.
Lauren Neaves leads Rice in scoring at 15.8 points a game, and is 11th nationally in rebounding with 11.8 an outing. Guard Krystal Frazier is also scoring in double figures for the year, averaging 10.5 points a game, and leads the team in steals and assists.
Stanford's attack is led by all-America guard Candice Wiggins, who averages 17.8 points and five rebounds. Leading rebounder Kristen Newlin (10.3 rpg) will miss the game due to injury.
