Rice Golfers in Second Place

Many, La. -- The Rice Owls golf team sits in second place after round one of the Battle on the Bend with an even-par 288 trailing New Orleans (284; -4) by only four strokes.
Parker LaBarge, who posted a three-under score of 69, led Rice. Addison Awe and Kyle Kelley each posted par 72s. LaBarge is in second place, while Awe and Kelley are tied for 11th. Heon Young Lee, playing in his first fall tournament, and Jeff Krakowiak each shot 75.
"I was extremely pleased with the way the team played today," says Rice head coach Drew Scott. "They played steady and the team is excited about putting three solid rounds together and to have a chance to win the tournament."
Round two of the Battle on the Bend is on Tuesday with the third and final round on Wednesday.
