Franklin, Tenn. - The Rice Owls golf team shot a 303 in round two of Vanderbilit's Mason Rudolph Intercollegiate, held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club, and now sits in 11th place. SMU, which shot a 294 in round one, shot a 281 on Saturday and is one-under for the tournament at 575. Individually, Adam Wynia, of Belmont, leads at six-under (70-68=138).
According to head coach Drew Scott, the Owls made a difficult golf course even more challenging. "We didn't do a good job of managing the golf course today," says Scott. We allowed routine pars to become easy bogeys. We lost our focus and let some shots slip away."
For round two, freshman Kyle Kelley led the Owls with a 74, while Kaz Hoffman and Parker LaBarge lead the team at +6 with 150 scores.
The final round concludes on Sunday.
