Men's Golf: Owls Place Sixth at Baylor Invitational

WACO - The Rice Owls golf team shot a final round 294 to finish in sixth place at the sixth annual Baylor Invitational (Bear Ridge Golf Club (7,243; par 72) moving up two positions from eighth after Monday's rounds.

The Owls had two players in the top 20. Freshman Jeff Krakowiak tied for 14th at 219 (73-72-74=219) for his best-ever finish and senior Eddie Rowe tied for 18th (72-75-73=220).

Lamar claimed the team title by shooting 5-under par 859 for the tournament, seven strokes ahead of Texas-Arlington (866) and 13 ahead of third-place Baylor (872). Lamar's Dawie Van der Walt played outstanding in the final round, firing a 66, to card a 54-hole score of 207 to take individual medalist honors.
