Women's Basketball: Rice Defeats Houston Jaguars in Exhibition Action

HOUSTON ? The Rice Lady Owls defeated the Houston Jaguars 64-48 in exhibition action Monday night at Autry Court.

Let by 10 points each from Lauren Neaves, Annie Peck and Krystal Frazier, Rice used a 15-0 run to end the first half and begin the second to come from behind for the win. The Lady Owls were down 10 points with 36 seconds remaining in the first half and were able to cut the Jaguars? halftime lead to six, 30-24.

Rice came out of the locker room to score 11 straight and never looked back. The Lady Owls led the remainder of the game, eventually notching the 16-point victory. Neaves and Frazier each scored eight of their 10 points in the second half, as Rice shot 36 percent from the field, while holding the Jaguars to just 15 percent in the second period.

For the game, Rice shot just 28 percent on 20-of-72 from the field. Laquita Delasbour led the Houston Jaguars with 10 points.

Rice returns to action this Thursday, Dec. 23, as they close out the non-conference season on the road at Rhode Island. Tip-off is slated for 4:30 pm CST. The Lady Owls will open conference play on Dec. 30 at Southern Methodist.
