The Lady Owls are standing at 2-2 on the season, thanks in part to the play of sophomore Lauren Neaves. The Cooper City, Fla., native leads the team in scoring at 11.5 ppg. After setting the single-season blocks record last season, Neaves has posted seven so far this season, and is just 51 shy of breaking the Rice record of 142 held by Johnetta Hayes.

A sports medicine major from Lovett College, Lauren was a first-team all-Western Athletic Conference selection last season, and a preseason all-WAC honoree this year.

The thing I like most about being a Lady Owl is: having awesome teammates and getting to go to Hawaii.

My hidden talent is: cooking.

The one thing people don't know about me is: I was a three-time all-American water polo player in high school.

If I could bring one thing from home it would be: the amazing beaches.

My pre-game ritual is: getting my ankles taped.

I wear #13 because: 33 was taken and 13 was my water polo number in high school.

My dream job is: an FBI agent.

The greatest risk I've ever taken is: swimming with sharks in the Keys.

My post-Rice ambition is: to get a job I really enjoy and buy a dog!

The Lady Owl to watch out for this season is: Samantha Stovall.

The team I would most like to add to the schedule is: University of Miami so that my hometown friends can see me play.

My most embarrassing moment was: when I fell down the bleacher stairs during a high school men's basketball game, and the band kept yelling "ENCORE!"

The most interesting place I've visited is: Switzerland because the mountains and old castles were awe inspiring.

The best advice I've ever been given is: "Stay out from under the basket."

The one thing I'd like to say but you didn't ask is: We are going to take the WAC this year!
