Junior Laura Healey won the 50-free and swam the anchor leg on two winning relays.

HOUSTON -- Senior Urska Ros and junior Laura Healey helped lead a Rice sweep of all six events on the first day of the Houston Fall Invitational Friday across town at the UH Recreation and Wellness Center Natatorium.

Healey posted a season best time of 23.69 to win the 50-yard freestyle. She led a sizable contingent of Owl sprinters that qualified for five of the eight spots in the event's championship final.

Her win was one of the many season best marks team members posted on a day that was clearly all Rice. The Owls scored a total of 460 points in the team standings to lead meet host Houston (315 points), Incarnate Word (50) and the University of New Orleans (44).

Ros registered a season-best time of 56.62 to lead a 1-2 Rice finish in the 100-butterfly. Ros and Healey helped the Blue and Gray take both of the day's relays with a 1:36.92 in the 200-free and a 3:52.41 in the 400-medley.

The Owls went 1-2-3-4 behind true freshman Brittany Massengale's 4:51.06 victory in the 500-free. Senior Andrea Hurn led a 1-3-4 Rice finish in the 200-individual medley with a season best 2:07.45. Senior Lauren Hill was strong for the Owls with a second place behind Ros in the 100-fly and spots on both winning relays.

Action in the UH Fall Invitational continues through Sunday with two sessions each day. Morning prelims begin at 10 am while evening finals start at 6 pm on Saturday and 5 pm on Sunday. Saturday's meet schedule will be the 200 medley relay, 400 individual medley, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke and 800 freestyle relay.
