Volleyball: Owls Sweep Tulsa 3-0

Tulsa, Okla. - The Rice Owls volleyball team swept Tulsa 3-0 (30-24, 30-26, 30-24) to end the regular season and claim its 24th victory of the campaign. It was also the 20th match this year in which the Owls won by a 3-0 margin and the 24 wins this season are the most ever in Rice volleyball history. The Owls are now 12-1 in Western Athletic Conference action.

The Owls, controlling the net offensively and defensively, were led by the one-two punch of Rebeca Pazo and Lindsey Carter as they combined for 30 of Rice's 50 kills. Pazo led all hitters with 16 kills, while Carter posted 14 kills. The Owls out hit the Hurricane 50-45, but 26 TU hitting errors added to the Rice .311-.145 hitting percentage advantage. Yvette Kirk led Rice defensively with 17 kills, while Rebecca Kainz had a game-high five total blocks for Rice as it had 16 team blocks to Tulsa's 2.

Rice now faces Tulsa in the first round of the WAC Tournament in Reno, Nev. on Nov. 19.
