Day One Results

HOUSTON ? Day one of the 2004 Hilton Plaza Rice Invitational is in the books as Rice posted four individual and one medley relay victory Friday night at the Rice Pool.

Rice?s veteran 400 yard medley relay team of Jane Keith, Lauren Hill, Urska Ros, and Laura Healey easily won the event with a time of 3:52.26, earning the Owls 32 points. Hill went on to earn an individual title in the 200 yard breaststroke, while Ros took the title in the 100 yard butterfly.

Senior Jenny Voight nabbed the 400 yard IM in a time of 4:34.66, one second ahead of Colorado State?s Abi Iler. Freshman Britta Massengale took the 500 yard freestyle in 4:52.00, 15 seconds ahead of second place.

Competing in this year?s event are Colorado State, Texas Christian and Nevada. Saturday?s action at the Rice Pool begins at 11 am.
