Men's Golf: Owls Eighth at WAC Championships

LEWISVILLE, Texas -- Junior Frederik Dejaeghere tied for 11th to lead the Rice golfers in the first round of the 2000 Western Athletic Conference Golf Championships in Lewisville Monday.
Dejaeghere shot a 74 on the 7,152-yard, par-72 course. Senior C.W. Mallon is two strokes behind his teammate after the first round, tied for 24th with a 76. Fresno State's Ryan King and Todd Rose top the leaderboard, with King firing a 68 and Rose a stroke back with a 69.
The Bulldogs lead the team standings by eight strokes with a 284. Tulsa is second overall with a 292, followed closely by TCU's 293. The Owls are in eighth place with a 306.
The WAC championships continue on Tuesday at the Golf Club at Castle Hills and conclude on Wednesday.
