Men's Golf: Rice Finishes 12th at Bearkat Classic

MONTGOMERY, Texas Rice junior Chris Connolly tied for 20th to lead the Rice golfers to a 12th-place finish at the Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic at the Bentwater Country Club.

Connolly shot a 73 in Tuesday's final round to go with rounds of 71 and 74 on Monday. His 218 strokes for the tournament tied him for 18th, 15 strokes behind Chris Devlin of Alabama-Birmingham, who won the tournament with a three-round total of 203. Devlin shot a 66 in the final round to go along with rounds of 69 and 68 on Monday.

Texas-San Antonio claimed the team title with 862 total strokes in the 16-team tournament, just one stroke ahead of second place Texas Tech and two ahead of Louisiana-Lafayette. The Owls were 25 strokes behind the Roadrunners having fired an 887 over three rounds

Rice returns to the tee box May 1-3 for the Western Athletic Conference Championships in El Paso.
