Misha Caylor joined the Rice academic advising team in 2011 as an Assistant Director of Academic Advising and was promoted to Associate Director in 2023.
In her initial role, she was charged with managing the academic awards programs as well as five varsity teams: men’s golf, men’s tennis, men’s track, women’s swimming, and volleyball.
In her new position, Caylor serves as the lead certifying officer for NCAA academic eligibility and shares in the responsibility of institutional data reporting for all student athletes. She also serves as organizer and host for all major events sponsored by the Office of Academic Advising for Athletics, including the annual Rice Scholar Athlete Banquet.
Caylor has been honored in several times during her time at Rice. She was named the quarterly “Owlstanding Teammate” in the athletic department in 2017 and won the Dean’s annual Staff Recognition Award in 2022. She and her academic advising colleagues were jointly recognized at the 2023 Night of the Owl for their outstanding contributions to student athlete successes at Rice and beyond.
Prior to Rice, Caylor graduated from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. At W&M, Misha played Division 1 golf and earned four varsity letters while completing her BA in Psychology. She earned her Master’s in Professional Counseling from Liberty University and worked as a full-time counselor with children and teens in a residential psychiatric hospital while completing her studies.
Caylor is married and lives in Houston with her four children and their German Shepherd. In her spare time, Misha enjoys trivia, attending Rice sporting events, playing golf, and visiting with family and friends.
