Joey Espinosa joined the Rice Athletics staff in August 2023 as an Associate Director of Facilities and Events. His responsibilities include oversight of facility and event operations for baseball, golf, and women's swimming & diving. He also serves as a secondary game manager for football and men’s basketball.

Prior to joining the Rice University staff, Espinosa worked in Facilities and Event operations at the University of Houston Athletic Department, assisting in facility and game operations for multiple athletic programs. In addition to his roles at Rice and Houston, Espinosa held a prior position in stadium operations working guest services roles with the Houston Astros.

Espinosa has also served in game management roles for the 2024 CFP National Championship, 2023 NCAA Men’s Basketball Final Four, and Tracy McGrady’s Ones Basketball League.

Born and raised in Houston, TX. Espinosa also attended the University of Houston where he graduated Cum Laude and earned a degree in Sports Administration with a minor in Public Relations.
