Chris Palomarez joined the Owls in the fall of 2008 as an assistant equipment manager, and enters his 15th season with Rice University Equipment. He was appointed head of equipment operations for all Olympic sports in the summer of 2011 and still serves in that capacity. Prior to coming to Rice, he worked from 2007 to 2008 as Northwestern State's head athletic equipment manager.
As a point of contact for Rice Equipment and the Olympic sports staff, Palomarez oversees the buying, receiving, inventory, distribution, and cleaning of athletic wear.
Chris's prior employment history includes working as the Head Athletic Equipment Manager at Northwestern State University from 2007 to 2008; managing equipment for the Arena Football League from 1998 to 2005; and interning in the University of Houston's equipment room from 2005 to 2007. Chris also worked as an equipment assistant for the Houston Aeros Hockey team from 2001 to 2002.
He graduated from Paris Junior College in 1997 with an A.S. in kinesiology and the University of Houston in 2002 with a B.S. Since 2002, he has maintained his national certification as an Athletic Equipment Managers Association member.
He has two sons, Zack and Max and makes his home in Baytown, Texas.
