Women’s Golf Announces Inaugural Schedule

HOUSTON — Rice women's golf coach Joanne Berglund announced the release of the program's inaugural schedule Monday morning.
The 11-tournament schedule will see the Owls compete in six different states and two countries, including four tournaments in Texas.
Said Berglund, "We intentionally built a schedule that will challenge us from the very beginning. As an inaugural program, we want to establish a standard of competing against outstanding fields and on championship-caliber golf courses. Every tournament will provide an opportunity for our team to grow, gain valuable experience, and measure ourselves against some of the best programs in the country.
Our student-athletes have embraced the opportunity to build something special. This team understands the significance of being the first players to wear the Rice Women's Golf logo in competition. They have worked tirelessly to establish the culture, expectations, and identity of this program, and I couldn't be more excited for us to begin competing."
Rice will play its first-ever tournament Sept. 18-20 at the Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C., hosted by Furman.
The Owls will then play three tournaments in three weeks, beginning with the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark.
A week later, they travel to Medinah, Ill., for the Illini Women's Invitational at Medinah, Oct. 12-13. The tournament will take place at Medinah Country Club, host of five major championships and the 2026 President's Cup.
The fall slate concludes at the Jim West Challenge, played Oct. 18-19 in San Marcos and hosted by Texas State.
The spring campaign begins Jan. 29-30 when Rice travels to Guadalajara, Mexico for the Collegiate Invitational at Guadalajara Country Club, hosted by Virginia.
The Owls will play two straight tournaments at the Golf Club of Houston in Humble. Rice will take part in the Houston Invitational (2/8), before returning for the Chevron Collegiate (2/22-23). Both tournaments are hosted by Houston.
Rice will play in back-to-back weeks in March, starting with its second tournament in South Carolina, the Briar's Creek Invitational in Charleston on Mar. 15-16.
A week later, the Owls head west to Peoria, Ariz., for the Bell Bank "Pay It Forward," Mar. 22-23 and hosted by Minnesota.
The regular season concludes on Apr. 5-6 at the "Mo"Morial, played at the Traditions Club in Bryan, Texas.
The Owls begin postseason play at the American Championship, Apr. 19-21, played at Southern Hills Plantation Club in Brooksville, Fla.
Added Berglund, "We know this schedule will test us, but that's exactly what we want. We have a talented, hardworking, and resilient group of young women who are excited to compete. Our goal isn't simply to participate in our inaugural season—it's to establish Rice Women's Golf as a program capable of competing at a championship level. This schedule provides the perfect opportunity to begin building that tradition, and we cannot wait to tee it up for the first time as a team."
NCAA Regionals take place May 10-12 at campus sites, with Texas hosting the NCAA Championship in Carlsbad, Calif., May 21-26.
