Skopal Earns Third Freshman of the Week Honor

Savannah Skopal concludes the regular season with an outstanding 873 assists, including 95 this week for a conference-leading 11.88 assists per set. This is the second week in a row Skopal has led the conference in assists per set. Skopal individually posed conference-highs twice this week, posting the most assists in a three-set match against Memphis with 41, then setting the most assists in a five-set match with 54 against North Texas. Skopal led Rice to posting a .276 hitting percentage in league play this week and led the Owls to post the second-most kills per set at 14.50.
Second-seeded Rice begins its postseason run with a match against seventh-seeded North Texas on Friday at 1:30 p.m. in the AAC Championships.
