Ogunlana, Tchouangwa Earn AAC Honorable Mention

Lademi Ogunlana powered the Rice Owls to two straight set victories over the weekend, taking down North Texas on Friday and East Carolina on Sunday to help the Owls remain unbeaten in conference play … On Friday, Ogunlana posted five blocks, two solo and three assisted blocks, to keep Mean Green attackers at bay … In addition, Ogunlana showed her versatility with five kills, an assist, and four digs, proving to be a powerful asset for Rice … On Sunday, Ogunlana had one of the top performances of her career, not only defensively, but offensively … On the defensive front, she posted another four blocks to improve her season total to 45, as well as tallied another three digs … Ogunlana's offense is what impressed, as Ogunlana posted the first perfect hitting percentage in Rice history (min. 10 attempts), with 11 kills in 11 attempts.
Cindy Tchouangwa had another impressive offensive week, with 24 kills in the six sets Rice played for 4.00 kills per set … Tchounangwa's offense was a big reason the Owls remained undefeated in conference play against North Texas and East Carolina over the weekend … Tchouangwa also tallied 26.0 points in two matches, putting up an impressive 4.33 points per set in those two matches … She posted four blocks as well, having a hand in one-third of Rice's total blocks for those two matches.
The Owls will be back in action on Wednesday, October 16, as they take on the South Florida Bulls in Tampa, Fla.
