
Volleyball Signs Kayla Patel for 2024 Season

HOUSTON, Texas — Rice volleyball head coach Genny Volpe announced on Thursday the addition of Kayla Patel for the 2024 season.
"Kayla is not only a talented all around volleyball player, she is such a competitive person," Volpe said. "You won't find a person that wants to win the point more than Kayla. Her skill level as a passer, defender, and attacker coupled with her work ethic and drive will make an immediate impact on our team."
Patel, a 5-7 outside hitter from Austin, Texas, was named to the 2023 AVCA Girls High School Volleyball All-America Watch List this past year. A four-year letterwinner at St. Stephen's Episcopal School, Patel has posted 1,065 kills, 594 digs and 96 service aces during her career. She was named SPC all-conference her junior year and was named to the JVA Best of the Beach Watchlist for beach volleyball in both 2022 and 2023. Also played club volleyball for AJV Adidas where she helped the team qualify for the 17 Open and a first-place finish at the Countdown City Classic.
