HOUSTON — Rice Volleyball Head Coach Genny Volpe has announced the promotion of John Klanac to Associate Head Coach.
"I am excited to announce the promotion of John Klanac to Associate Head Coach," said Volpe. "John has proven to be an incredibly positive and valuable asset to the Rice Volleyball program over the last five years. He is certainly deserving and ready for this new role, and the responsibilities that come with it."
Klanac has served as Assistant Coach for the last five years, coinciding with the most dominant run in Rice Volleyball history. During that time, Rice has made the NCAA Tournament all five years, one of just three schools in Texas and 18 in the country to make it five straight seasons.
The Owls have won two Conference USA championships, including this past year, have averaged 22.8 wins a year and have a winning percentage of .809.
"I am honored and grateful for the opportunity to continue to help take Rice Volleyball to new heights," said Klanac. "I can't thank Genny enough for being such an incredible mentor to me and an amazing leader for the entire program. We're fortunate to have such a dedicated administration who cares for our student athletes and a fantastic support staff that works tirelessly. There's no limit to what this program can accomplish."
Klanac has coached 22 All-Conference players, including eight AVCA All-Americans.
