Volleyball Adds Transfer Kaitlyn Knobbe

HOUSTON — Rice Volleyball head coach Genny Volpe has announced the addition of transfer middle blocker Kaitlyn Knobbe for the 2023 season.
"Kaitlyn will fit in very well with our style of play," said Volpe. "Her speed and athleticism are exactly what we like to see at the middle blocker position. We are very excited to have her join our team this spring, so we can get to work immediately to prepare for the 2023 fall season."
Knobbe comes to South Main after spending the last two seasons at SMU., where she helped the Mustangs to at least 18 wins both years, including 22 last season.
In two years, she saw action in 22 matches. She recorded 30 kills, 20 blocks, 0.97 kills per set and 0.70 blocks per set.
A native of Omaha, Neb., she was a four-year letterwinner at Duchesne Academy. She set the school's blocking record for a match and season as junior, then topped it as a senior. Knobbe was named the Class B Top Blocker as a senior and was four-time Academic All-State.
