Spitz Lowers School Record

Owls win three individual races and two relays
In Brief: Zoe Spitz lowered her day-old school record in the 100 back while Arielle Hayon and Lauren McDougall captured their second individual titles of the weekend on Day Two of the Phill Hansel Invitational at the University of Houston's CRWC Natatorium on Thursday.
The Details: Spitz captured the 100 back in 53.34, dropping her school record set on the opening leg of the 400 medley relay on Thursday by .02. Hayon won the 100 fly and McDougall cruised to a win in the 200 freestyle. Those three swimmers combined with freshman Lily Cramer to win the 200 medley relay while Cramer and McDougall were joined by Ginny Qian and Shannon Campbell in a winning effort in the 800 freestyle relay.
Seth Huston: "Great night of racing for the Owls. The team put together and executed some great race plans. They were fantastic moving from event to event through the night. So many multiple swims for most of the team. Really happy for Lauren McDougall, she dominated the 200 free and came from behind as the anchor to win the 800 free relay.
The Standings: Houston 1,196.5, Rice 951, Air Force 855, Tulane 591, North Texas 537, New Mexico 317.5
Up Next: The final day of action opens at 10 a.m. on Saturday with preliminaries in the 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly. Finals for those events in addition to the 1650 Freestyle and the 400 free relay will begin a 4 p.m. There is no admission charge to attend the competition.
