Full Results
In Brief: Shannon Campbell, Amelia Kane, and Madison Howe each picked up victories to highlight performances for Rice at the Incarnate Word Time Trial meet at UIW's Ann Barshop Natatorium in San Antonio on Friday. The meet featured racing between Rice, TCU and UIW, without team scoring.
The Details: Campbell picked up her first event win of the season in the 500 freestyle while Kane captured the 400 IM for the second consecutive week. Howe won the 100 fly for the second time this season. Marta Cano-Minarro (200 IM/200 Free) and Phillis Range (100/200 breastroke) each picked up a pair of second-place finishes while Lauren McDougall, (100 freestyle) and Zoe Spitz (100 back) placed second in one event. Cano-Minarro was followed in succession by Campbell, Virginie Qian, Briana Gellineau and Becca Evans in the 200 freestyle as the Owls took five of the top six spots.
Seth Huston: "Traveling and competing all in one afternoon was not ideal, but mission accomplished. We needed to race and rehearse our tactics and we achieved this. I was especially impressed with our milers pacing. Briana Gellineau looked the best I have seen this season and Maddy Howe bounced back this week and looked much better."
Up Next: The Owls return to the Rice Competition Pool on Friday for another time trial meet at 4 p.m.
