Baker Presented Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship

Mimi Baker, a four-year letter winner while swimming for Rice, is one of 14 accomplished recipients of the Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship from Conference USA.
This is the 13th year the conference has honored the former Rice educator, coach and Faculty Athletics Representative who served the school for 46 years before he passed in 2008. Every season, C-USA grants the $4,000 scholarship to distinguished graduates selected by the league's Faculty Athletics Representatives and approved by the Conference USA Board of Directors.
Baker competed in the butterfly events over the past four seasons, compiling a 3.96 GPA whgile majoring in political science and sociology major prior to graduating Magna Cum Laude in May. She was a four-time recipient of the Conference USA Commissioner' Academic Medal at three-time Arthur Ashe, Jr. Sports Scholar.
She will enter Harvard Law School this fall.
