HOUSTON – The No. 24 ranked Rice Owls volleyball team earned one of 18 at-large bids to the 48-team NCAA Tournament field on Sunday, marking the second straight season the team has been awarded an at-large bid and the fourth time in program history.
The Owls (16-5, 12-0) will face North Carolina A&T (11-1, 8-0) out of the MEAC on Wednesday, April 14 at 9:30 p.m. in Omaha, Nebraska, which is where the tournament will be hosted in its entirety. "We're very excited, I believe this team earned it," Rice head coach Genny Volpe said. "To get at-large bids two years in a row, especially in a year when they're only taking 48 teams, is a true testament to what this team accomplished this year. We're playing at a very high level right now and the best part is we're having different people step up on different days at high levels. We've got a strong core of veterans but also young players that are adding to the mix. I feel really confident in their ability to keep going in this long season."The moment we were waiting for! #GoOwls👐 x #RFND pic.twitter.com/qDvIY3VldI
