
Adekunle Earns C-USA Defensive Player of the Week

Second weekly honor for middle blocker this season
DALLAS – Rice junior middle blocker was named the Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week after helping push the Owls winning streak to 10 consecutive matches last weekend, the league office announced on Monday (11/1).
Adekunle helped the Owls cinch the West Division title with a stellar performance at the net, totaling 14 blocks (2.00 per set) across seven games. The Humble, Texas native established a season-high with eight blocks in Saturday's 3-0 victory at UAB, that coming on the heel of six more blocks in Friday's 3-1 win against the Blazers.
Adekunle also registered 12 kills and had a total of 19.5 points over the seven sets. This honor is Adekunle's third C-USA Defensive Player of the Week award of her career.
The Owls (15-5, 10-0) close out the C-USA regular season this weekend with a series against the UTSA Roadrunners, Nov. 5-6, including Senior Night this Friday at 6 p.m.
