Men’s Basketball Signs Cameron Sheffield

HOUSTON — Rice men's basketball coach Scott Pera has announced the signing of Cameron Sheffield (Alpharetta, Ga.) to a national letter of intent for the 2020-21 school year, Pera announced Wednesday morning.
Sheffield, a 6-6 guard/forward who played for Chris Short at Chattahoochee High School, led the Cougars to a 26-5 record last year and a spot in the state tournament. He was named Second Team All-State Class AAAAAA by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was also named Second Team All-State and Junior of the Year by HoopSeen.com.
A three-star prospect by both Rivals and 247, Sheffield also earned First Team All-Metro by the AJC after averaging 23 points, nine rebounds and three assists.
"Today we are thrilled to welcome Cameron Sheffield to Rice University and our basketball program," said Pera. "Cameron will be a great addition to what we are building. He is an excellent shooter and is a tremendous rebounder for his size. He can play multiple positions and has a chance to be a leader both on and off the court for us. We are very excited about Cameron joining the Rice family today."
