Swimmers Take Down Denver Friday

Evans & Campbell Both Win Two Individual Events
Trailing by 12 points in the team scoring midway through the meet, Rice rattled off consecutive wins in the 100-yard freestyle, 50-backstroke, 200-IM, 500-free and 100-freestyle relay. The Owl tandem of Becca Evans and Shannon Campbell both won two events on the day, with Evans anchoring Rice's winning relay to close out the day's action. Rice head coach Seth Huston liked what he saw.
"The meet score went back and forth," Coach Huston explained. "After the last intermission, Rice came out and 1-3-4 in the 500 and then swept the 200 IM with Hannah Sumbera and Brittany Bui. Despite a number of close finishes going the other way early in the meet, the team really showed their character. They competed, stayed in it and beat a beat a great team (Denver) that won their conference last year."
There are two more dual meets to close out Saturday's session of the four-team Dual-A-Pool-Ooza. The remaining events schedule is as follows.
