Hello Barcelona!

Rice once again said goodbye to a city that treated us well, this time leaving Valencia and heading four hours North to Barcelona, the second biggest city in Spain. Spanish is actually the second language in Barcelona. It is located in the Catalonian region and they speak Catalonian. In fact, the people of Barcelona have been trying to gain their independence from Spain.
On the way to Barcelona, the team stopped for a quick lunch. We finally arrived at the hotel about an hour later. After a quick rest, the team took a 45 minute trip to a community service event at a local park where they interacted with kids with disabilities.
The look on not only the kid's faces, but the faces of the Rice Owls, spoke volumes. They all had a good time. The team at first showed them some basic basketball moves. But, it quickly became apparent that these kids didn't need any help and knew what they were doing! They began to play games and the kids showed that they could handle a basketball! In the end, it was the most worthwhile experience that the team has had in Spain so far and it shows what spending a little bit of time with others can do for them.
