LUBBOCK, Texas – Rice volleyball put the finishing touches on a 2-0 start to the 2018 season with a straight sets sweep (25-20, 25-13, 25-14) of Northwestern St. Friday evening in the nightcap of the Red Raider Classic. The Owls limited the Lady Demons to a .088 hitting percentage, limiting NSU to just 19 kills.
RICE HEAD COACH GENNY VOLPE
"I think probably the biggest thing that stood out to me today about our team was our energy and togetherness that they displayed. Whether on the court or on the bench, there was a true presence of Rice volleyball and what we stand for. From the first match to the second, there was improvement. We had a lot more balance in our attack. We were a little too outside hitter dominant in the first match and in this match there was a definite difference. The setters did a terrific job of distributing the ball and Shelby Livingstone and Lee Ann Cunningham were great passing."
HOW IT HAPPENED
