The "R" Association and Rice Athletics invite fans to "Party with the Cheerleaders" on the eve of Rice's home football opener. The Sept. 19 event features a reception and program from 6-9 p.m. at the Anderson-Clarke Center's Hudspeth Auditorium.
The night begins with a reception hour featuring hors d'oeuvres by Frankie B. Mandola and cash bar (including one complimentary drink per person) from 6-7 p.m.
The program, titled "Torchlight Parades to Stardust Dancing," begins at 7 p.m. featuring former Rice cheerleader Paul Tobolowsky (M.D., 1969), author of Stardust Dancing: A Seeker's Guide to the Miraculous.
The festivities conclude with a dessert reception and book signing.
Fans must RSVP to Lizzie Yoshida (lyoshida@rice.edu, 713-348-2864) by Sept. 15 as space is limited.
There is no cost to attend, though a suggested minimum donation is $20. Net proceeds will support Rice's new cheerleading endowment.
