Rice Basketball Signs Two

Rice University basketball coach Ben Braun announced Thursday the Owls have signed combo guard Julian DeBose and point guard Dylan Ennis to National Letters of Intent.
DeBose (6-4, 190) is the 39th-ranked shooting guard high school prospect by ESPN. The Washington, D.C., native attends St. John College High.
Debose averaged 15 points, seven rebounds and three assists last year for St. John en route to being named to the All-Washington Catholic Athletic Conference Third-Team.
DeBose was named to the all-tournament team at the Nike Peach Jam. Also over the summer, DeBose was named a Hoop Group Elite Camp All-Star.
"Julian is an athletic wing player who plays both ends of the floor," Braun said. "He comes from a very successful high school basketball program and will bring a winning attitude with him to Rice."
DeBose chose Rice over a lengthy list of schools including Ivy League members Harvard and Penn as well as DePaul, Siena, Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth.
Ennis (6-2, 175) currently plays for Chicago Lake Forest Academy but is from Brampton, Ontario. Brampton is also the hometown of Rice football player Tolu Akinwumi.
Ennis averaged 21 points and 9.3 assists per game as a junior at Lake Forest Academy. He was named first-team all-league last season. Ennis was also named to the all-tournament team at the Harley Davidson Classic played in West Virginia. He averaged 14 points and 11 assists per game during the tournament to lead his team.
Ennis also played on two AAU teams, Dickey Simpkins NLP and Team Takeover Canada.
Ennis is the 31st-ranked point guard prospect according to ESPN.
"Dylan will bring strong point guard skills to our program," Braun said. "He is a coach's son who understands the game and will help make his teammates better."
Ennis chose Rice over a long list of programs including Akron, College of Charleston, Nebraska, Northern Iowa and TCU.
