Rice, with a 2-2 record, hosts the Oregon Ducks (4-0) on Monday night at 7:05 pm in Autry Court. This is Oregon's first road trip on the season. The Ducks are led in scoring by 5-6 freshman guard Tajuan Porter at 26.0 ppg. Porter is also averaging 4.0 assists an outing. Forward Maarty Leunen lead Oregon on the boards with an 11.0 rebounding average. In the last three games, the Ducks' opponents have each committed 20 or more turnovers.
Rice All-America candidate Morris Almond has scored 38 and 31 points in his last two games to lead the Owls at 26.5 ppg. Almond also leads Rice on the glass with a 6.5 rebounding average and in steals with 8. Senior center Greg Killings is the only other Owl averaging double-figures at 11.0 ppg, while sophomore guard Cory Pflieger is at 9.3 ppg.
This evening's game is only the fourth meeting between Rice and Oregon, with the Ducks holding a 2-1 edge. Last year in Eugene, Ore., Oregon won 84-60. Lorenzo Williams had 19 points to lead Rice, while Malik Haiston scored 14 to lead the Ducks.
