Rice (1-1) faces Colorado State (1-1) in the Dicks's Sporting Goods NIT Season Tip-Off at 6:30 pm (Central) in Spokane, Wash. Colorado State previously lost to Baylor in double-overtime on Tuesday night, 87-82. Jason Smith had 25 points and grabbed 19 rebounds for the Rams in the loss. He leads CSU in scoring (22.9) and rebounding (13.0).
The Rams and the Owls last tanlged in 1999, with Rice winning in Houston (Jan. 9) 63-60, and CSU capturing the Fort Collins, Colo. game 64-55 (Feb. 4).
All-America candidate Morris Almond leads Rice in scoring at 18.5 ppg, while fellow senior Greg Killings leads the Owls in rebounding at 5.5 rpg.
