The Rice Owls host number-two ranked Texas on Monday at 7:05 pm in the Toyota Center in downtown Houston. This is the first meeting between the two schools since the 1996 season when the two squads split the season series as members of the defunct Southwest Conference. Rice won in Austin, 80-69, while the Longhorns gained revenge and captured the game in Houston 79-64.
Texas is led in scoring by P.J. Tucker's 17.9 average, while LaMarcus Aldridge follows at 17.6. Aldridge does lead UT in rebounding at 10.4 rpg.
J.R. Harrison after a career-high 27 points vs. Utah leads Rice in scoring and rebounding. The senior from Gainesville averages 15.3 ppg and 8.8 rpg. Junior guard Lorenzo Williams follows at 14.7 ppg and Morris Almond is averaging 12.3 ppg.
This is Rice's last game, due to final exams, until Dec. 15 when it hosts Palm Beach Atlantic on Thurs., Dec. 15 at Autry Court. Tip-off with the Sailfish is set for 7:05 pm.
